The iDome speaker set is a pure digital solution designed
to work with all digital media with S/P DIF outputs. The idea
being that the audio signal is purer and contains fewer distortions
if kept in a digital format. Since all digital to analog conversions
create some form of quality loss, we insist on keeping the pure
stream of digital audio from your MP3 player, your iPod, your
HDTV or your PC completely digital, so that you can enjoy your
multimedia technology in its purest form. Unlike the competition,
we embrace this new technology, custom designed by our engineers
to be supreme in every way. |

History of analog/digital media |
|
Historically, the video recorder was the only device capable
of the required high levels of bandwidth and storage space needed
for preserving audio signal correctly. Then using algorithms
and codecs, these traditional methods were adapted to store
the digital signal, usually by interfacing said video recorder
with a PCM adapter. References indicate they used either 525/60
NTSC or 625/50 PAL video with a sampling rate of 44.1 kHz, a
sample rate which continued well past the introduction of the
CD. |
|
Recently, 16-bit digital audio was adopted as the “broadcast
standard” because it offers 96 decibels (dB) of dynamic range,
enough to match the quality of broadcasting in analog. Of course,
modern systems do not have the earlier constraints of bandwidth
and storage space; 96 kHz and 192 kHz sample rates with 24-bit
samples are now commonplace and the sample rate timing can be
quite precise. abit iDome features 192kHz sample
rates for 24-bit sound processing environments. |
