Taipei, Taiwan, Monday February 26, 2001 – Hot Hardware recently reviewed ABIT's VP6 dual motherboard and gave it 9 out of 10 on their heat meter. "The extra time spent configuring this (dual) system was well worth the effort, as the performance is stellar." Hot Hardware was also quick to laud the layout and the performance of the VP6. "It is evident ABIT designed the VP6 with today's power user in mind, it's got all of the features we want...", they hasten to add "ABIT (as usual) takes things one step further by incorporating a High-Point Technologies HPT-370 IDE RAID controller!"
On layout Hot Hardware were equally impressed: "ABIT's engineers also had enough good sense to keep adequate room around the socket 370s. We mounted a pair of Alphas with plenty of room to spare. One of the most common mistakes motherboard manufacturers make today is placing components too close to the sockets hindering cooling efforts, kudos to ABIT for making our life a little bit easier."
Hot Hardware was also impressed by the total package that you get with the VP6. "Included in the box you'll find a comprehensive manual, two 80-Pin IDE cables, a floppy cable and all necessary drivers...it's a very complete package."
Their conclusion? "We have to say our overall impression of the ABIT VP6 is a good one. The extra time spent configuring this system was well worth the effort, as the performance is stellar... We are pleased with ours, and I'm sure it will remain in my personal system for some time to come. We give the VP6 a HotHardware Heat Meter rating of... |
