Taipei, Taiwan, Friday March 16, 2001 – Hot Hardware recently reviewed ABIT's KT7A-RAID, andthey were VERY pleased with it. Performance, compatibility and stability all were top notch. Hot Hardware concludes, "The board is packed with features and excelled in every test. If we were building an Athlon system today this would be the board we'd base our system on. The KT7A-RAID is arguably the best Socket A motherboard available."
Hot Hardware begins their review discussing precisely what you get for your buck. "Included in the box are a pair of 80-Pin IDE cables, a floppy cable, a secondary dual USB connector, a CD and Floppy containing all necessary drivers to get your board up and running and one of, if not the best, user's manual available from any motherboard manufacturer today."
The KT7A-RAID motherboard is exceptionally well designed, even the smallest aspects are considered. This is why the Northbridge chip is turned 45 degrees, shortening the length of some key traces and increasing stability. It is also why the ATX power connector is mounted at the far edge of the board, eliminating the need to drape cables over your CPU, RAM and expansion cards. Of course the KT7A-RAID comes complete with 3-phase power. Hot Hardware notes: "less load per component equates to less heat which in turn yields cleaner power and longer life."
Hot Hardware could not say enough good things about the layout; they continued to praise the space around the CPU for coolers and the number of fan headers across the board. "There is ample space around the CPU socket to house larger than average coolers…The KT7A-RAID has four 3-Pin fan headers available…once again we have to commend ABIT, especially now when finding 3 fan headers is becoming more rare."
Installation is also a breeze with ABIT’s Softmenu III. “You've got control over all on-board features, tweaks for memory…all you have to worry about is using the proper screws and stand-off |
