Taipei, Taiwan, Thursday, March 22, 2001-All About PC recently put ABIT's VP6 through its paces. In order to beat their expectations, the VP6 had to be able to: "Run scads of CPU-intensive applications simultaneously with no lockups or hangs, and be able to burn a CD on top of everything else." Let's take a look at how well the dual P!!! VP6 fared when tested by All-About PC.
All-about PC forced the VP6 to the edge. "I got bored and decided to see what I could do to make the system crash…I kept two instances of Prime95 running, opened 15 different Word documents, a huge Excel spreadsheet, an enormous Access database, Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, Ulead Media Studio Pro, and looped the Quake III Timedemo in two different windows. All that and not a hesitation, not a hiccup, so I copied a CD as well."
This is of course the minimum we would expect from an ABIT product. So how did the VP6 fare when compared to other dual PC boards on the market? "Does the most highly anticipated motherboard of the year live up to expectations? Beyond a shadow of a doubt. It gives you exactly what you want from a dual board: incredibly easy setup, great CPU performance, and unflagging stability. The VP6 is the best dual PIII board we are likely to see."
All-about PC also lauded the layout of the board"There is ample space for large cooling systems around both sockets. Now all those transistors and capacitors are tucked nicely away in the corner."
The reviewer found installation to be easy and the ABIT VP6 CD was extremely useful, containing pdf files in five different languages as well as a number of helpful utilities. So take a look at this VP6 review which is laden with detailed snap shots of the board.
All-about PC's conclusion says it all really, "What can I say? The VP6 is a rock" |
