Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. Monday, December 31st, 2001- Praise for the ABIT KR7A-RAID keeps pouring in, and the latest is from the folks at TweakTown. With it's excellent feature set and strong performance, it's no wonder that they awarded the KR7A-RAID with their coveted Editors Choice award!
TweakTown noticed the thoughtful layout of the KR7A-RAID: "In the case of the KR7A-RAID, 6 PCI slots and an extra DIMM slot were included, which is something that you rarely see on motherboards…The ATX power header has been smartly placed in between the DIMM slots and the CPU socket. This is a great position for the power header because unlike previous board layouts, you do not need to run the thick power cable over your heatsink/fan unit, restricting airflow. The IDE and Floppy connectors are also smartly placed; allowing easy installation of drives once the board has been installed into your PC…Overall the layout of the KR7A-RAID was great."
The ATA 133 featured on the KR7A-RAID really impressed them as well: "One of the most unique features the KR7A-RAID offers is ATA133 support through a Highpoint HPT372 RAID controller…this is a great inclusion for those of you that are looking to keeping this board for a while. In case some of you may be wondering, the ATA133 controller is backwards compatible with older ATA 66/100 drives."
The KR7A-RAID's SoftMenuTM III really stood out with TweakTown editors: "In usual ABIT style, the KR7A-RAID features all the options you would require in order to tweak your system for maximum performance. This is done via ABIT's SoftMenu III in the BIOS. You can set the multiplier from 5x to 13x and you are able to set the FSB all the way up to 200MHz in 1MHz increments…Throughout testing the board remained very stable and I am very pleased with the KR7A-RAID's overclocking results." |
