"excellent bit of kit"

January 16, 2007 - Universal abit made the world's first digital speakers for the PC market and with the exceptional technological enhancements embedded within the 2.1 speaker sets, we thought it prudent to get reviewed by audiophiles and specialists alike: "Recently they have moved to the Digital home media market …they have released a digital speaker system in 2.1 form. Now abit and speakers are not what I would normally associate with each other, but with the word that quality speakers are used for this set, we had to get a set in to review".

The guys over at Xtremecomputing know their sounds and were duly impressed with abit's offerings: "Now I am impressed, It also makes me gutted too as my theatre sub cost the same amount as this hole kit and it cant match it, and what makes it worse is I could of bought the abit sub separately to go with my home theatre setup. Well let me tell you what happened with this kit after I popped into my local AV/HiFi store and was telling them about this setup how well the kit together reproduced the sound levels. The co owner of the shop Mike (told you I would give you a mention) laughed at me for suggesting a computer motherboard manufacturer could release a kit that could sound as good as my home setup in 2.1 mode. You should have seen his face when I said the abit sub kicked the Yamaha into touch, his "you're talking rubbish" eyes and expression said it all so I replied "ok, I will bring them round connect them up and let's see what you think." The next day I popped into the shop with the kit, had a coffee and connected them up, ha ha ha-being right when someone that knows there stuff is wrong is very satisfying, even he was surprised by the sound reproduction and impressed by the kit. abit have made a good kit  that even the most die hard audiophile will find hard to fault….an excellent bit of kit made well with very impressive bass reproduction".

iDomeOn the subwoofer they summed up the report: "abit's sub was much clearer with a sharper bass punch to it …the sub on its own kicked my Yamaha to the side and maybe trod on it like a bully would. I kid you not! The second point is due to the price it may be out of some peoples reach, but that is really the clever side on abit's marketing as they are available separately which means if you cant quite budget the whole kit, you could buy the satellites and then when you have enough you can get the Sub to go with the kit. You would not be disappointed. "

Conclusion: "abit have really done well here when you consider they are a manufacturer of motherboards, to release a speaker kit with good quality sound is pretty impressive and something I would have not expected. For me the ultimate PC speaker setup… the sound and bass quality proved itself not only to me but to a few others. So much so I saved and went out and purchased another sub for my home theatre setup to replace my Yamaha. That now, made me feel like I had been ripped off by Yamaha ….and Kudos to abit for achieving this, highly recommended for those of you after crisp sharp sound".
