AW9D-MAX Editor's Choice at TechPowerUp!
"offers better performance"

5 November 2006 - Universal abit is proud to earn another acclaimed award, this time from the well respected TechPowerUp! team: "abit has set out to create the ultimate enthusiast motherboard for the Intel Core 2 platform.Their chipset of choice is Intel's i975X which is Intel's designated highest-end chipset."

Our features are appreciated and function well beyond the norm: "The abit AW9D-MAX is all passively cooled, so there is no fan noise…Doing some basic overclocking is extremely easy with µGuru in the BIOS. The POST code display on the board and the extra button for power and reset make troubleshooting a failed overclock a breeze."

abit continually strives to push the limits: "Like all other i975 boards, the abit AW9D-MAX has a rather limited maximum FSB. When talking about 'limited' here we're talking about 400+"

The board gave the reviewers such a good experience that they wanted to use them in their own systems at home: "Since I have been using an abit IC7 for the last years in my main work system I was very curious if this could be another board of this caliber."

Using the latest technology enhances your user experience: "After the initial setup and realizing how amazingly fast Conroe is compared to anything else seen before I went to do some overclocking on the E6300 … At first I was a bit disappointed by getting 'only' 400 FSB. But after reading up on the different chipsets I quickly realized that the i975X chipset was just not designed to go that fast by Intel. So this is not really abit's fault. Still, 400 FSB would have been very impressive just a year ago."

When it came down to the testing: "In many of our benchmarks we see the AW9D-MAX take a small lead over the P965 based [competitor]. This is because the memory controller on i975X offers better performance."

Besides the reviewer giving us the stamp of Editor's choice, we were also quite pleased with the following endorsement: "I will personally use this board in my new Conroe work system that replaces my P4 Socket 478  machine."
