June 10, 2006 – With the introduction of the personal digital theater PC speaker set iDome at Computex 2006 in Taipei, abit also started an entirely new product line. The fully digital multimedia audio segment had been unexplored by the industry until now. abit is ambitious to spearhead into this new and highly exciting market to cater to the demanding audiophile user.
"Indeed these babies really sound great. The international PC Professionell test team is unanimous in this verdict. Although three quarters of the test team are wearing glasses, their ears are still intact."
The testers had to point out this specific detail, as their initial audio test was done with a Bavarian version of Madonna's song "Like a virgin" with the volume adjusted to the maximum. After finishing the rest of the tests their logical conclusive statement thus was:
"speaker set for the hardcore"
PC Professionell from Germany had their own big test lab at the Computex tech show. The international test crew was conducting live tests of the latest and greatest products that have just been introduced at the show. Often these products have only just started production. Such was the case with the abit iDome 500 which had only come out of the first mass production test series. That being said, you can expect even further improvements when the iDome hits the markets in a couple of weeks.
PC Professionell's Labs Manager Sascha Faber, himself an engineer, proudly presented this highly prestigious Computex 2006 Award to abit's Thore Welling during the show in a small and exclusive ceremonial event.
