October 17, 2005 – The AW8-MAX Motherboard from ABIT is really reaping in the awards. Motherboard.org gives us praise and recognition for a job well done:
"Layout of the AW8-Max board is generally excellent. One especially nice placement is the 4-pin power connector. Many manufacturers make the mistake of placing this around the CPU socket, forcing the power cable to snake around the CPU cooler. ABIT placed the 4-pin power connector below the area, making for easy placement from the motherboard."
The strength of features is without equal in performance and stability:
"As already mentioned, ABIT includes a Silent-Outside-Thermal-Exhaust-System to cool the North Bridge (955X chip). This uses heat pipe technology to draw the hot air from the 955X chip to the outside of the board instead of using a noisy heatsink/fan. In operation, the AW8-MAX is very quiet. In an open air test station I only heard the CPU fan. No crashes or instability was noticed, so the Silent OTES did its job"
Our attention to detail makes all the difference: "
ABIT does include their μGuru utility which is a step above other motherboard utilities, …One thing ABIT includes that is a definite plus is the SATA RAID drivers on floppy disks to allow easy setup of RAID arrays on the board from a fresh install of Windows."
Our focus on niches to deliver a specific product hasn't gone un-noticed:
"ABIT is marketing this motherboard as a Digital Video Editing Platform something just starting to take shape in the PC world. The addition of three IEEE-1394 ports and 8 USB 2.0 ports gives you the flexibility you need to connect all of today's various media input devices."
Conclusion:
"From my point of view, the ABIT AW8-MAX is an excellent value and well worth the purchase. The AW8-MAX does offer excellent performance and a solid software bundle ...that should please many would-be users."
