Billion People. The ACON Fatal1ty Great Wall Shootout took the 4 best gamers of those 1.3 billion and
put them up against the world's top gamer, Johnathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendel. The challenge was simple: Beat 'Fatal1ty' in a
1v1 Deathmatch and take home 1 Million Renminbi (US$125,000). Offering the biggest gaming prize
ever offered, ABIT held the ACON Fatal1ty Shootout on the Great Wall in Beijing while introducing its new line
of Fatal1ty Gaming products.
ABIT is happy to announce that one of these 4 Top Chinese Gamers, Meng 'RocketBoy' Yang, managed to
defeat 'Fatal1ty' in an exciting fight to the finish shootout. On awarding the richest prize in gaming
history, Scott Thirlwell, ABIT's Director of Marketing said, "We are thrilled that China's Best Gamer, RocketBoy,
now receives some of the financial recognition that the world's best gamers should be seeing. ABIT's goal in holding the
ACON Fatal1ty Great Wall Shootout in China was to bring immediate recognition of gaming to the people of China." Thirlwell
continued, "ABIT also wanted to bring greater respect for esports, professional gaming competitions and the professional
gamers themselves, not only in China but around the world. With this event, I believe we have achieved this."
ABIT, along with partners Intel, ATi, Kingston,
Creative, ViewSonic, Sina and PWX Systems were all on hand to launch ABIT's latest line of Fatal1ty
Gaming products. The Fatal1ty AA8XE is the first motherboard designed in a combined effort between the
ABIT Engineers and the World's Top Gamer – Johnathan 'Fatal1ty' Wendel. Based on Intel's 925 Line of
Chipsets and offering full support for the ultimate in performance – DDR2 and PCI-Express, ABIT's Fatal1ty AA8XE
is designed to give gamers an edge. Also launched at the ACON Fatal1ty Great Wall Shootout was ABIT's Fatal1ty line of
VGA cards. At the Shootout, all players were using the ABIT Fatal1ty AA8XE motherboard and ABIT's ATi-based, Fatal1ty
X700XT VGA Cards.
On winning the ACON Fatal1ty Great Wall Shootout, RocketBoy said (translated from Chinese), "Today is a day
I thought would never happen. To be able to compete against the best gamer in the world in China for a prize of RMB $1,000,000
is something unreal. To be able to do that and win is dream-like. I want to thank ABIT and all the other companies for
really supporting gaming." When asked for his thoughts, Fatal1ty praised the gameplay of RocketBoy, saying, "RocketBoy
played a great match and had a well thought out strategy. I think that Rocket Boy winning today will end up helping to
bring an even bigger awareness to Professional Gaming around the world. Working with ABIT on designing the ultimate gaming
products and promoting professional gaming around the world at the ABIT Fatal1ty Shootouts has been a lot of fun."
Fatal1ty concluded saying, "I think another match against RocketBoy is in order."
