ACON4 Place Your Bets
Contest Winners Announced
One lucky winner gets the US$3000 ACON4 SuperSystem

July 30, 2004 - The finals may be over, but the winning doesn't stop. A total of 6,563 people participated in the ACON4 Place Your Bets Contest, which had each participant guess as to which of the ACON4 finalists would take home the title of ACON4 World Champion. Those who picked the 1st place finalist were entered in a random drawing for the 1st place prize – the ACON4 SuperSystem valued at US$3,000. Those who picked the 2nd place finisher were drawn for the 2nd place prize and so on.

The ACON4 SuperSystem consists of the following:

  • Kingston 1GB PC4000 DDR
  • ABIT IC7-MAX3 Motherboard
  • ATI X800 Pro 256MB Graphics Card
  • Western Digital 74GB Raptor Hard Drive

  • DVD Burner
  • Floppy
  • CPU Case + 400W PSU
  • Auravision Eluminix Keyboard
  • Auravision Eluminix Laser Mouse
  • Warcraft III ROC + TFT

After a little over a week of voting, here are the final vote tallies:

Korea's SK.Sweet and 4K.Grubby from Benelux were the clear favorites to win the tournament, receiving over half of the total votes. But as fate would have it, USA's mTw-Wizard walked away with top honors, winning the first ACON4 World Championship. Crowd favorite SK.Sweet had to settle for a third place finish, and 4K.Grubby was knocked out of the semi-finals after a hard-fought battle with China's YolinY.Suho, who was 4th in user votes.

Besides the ACON4 SuperSystem, there were many other prizes up for grabs, including an ATI 9800XT Video Card, an Intel P4 3.2GHz Prescott CPU, 1GB of Kingston PC4000 DDR memory, a Viewsonic P95F+B 19" CRT monitor, an Intel P4 3.06GHz Northwood CPU, a Western Digital 74GB Raptor hard drive, an ABIT IC7-MAX3, and a whopping 15 copies of Warcraft III. These will be sent out to the following lucky winners:
