Thecus Storage Solutions Powered by ABIT
New Thecus NAS servers extend the ABIT server product line

March 17, 2004 - ABIT Computer Corporation, a world leading manufacturer of award-winning mainboards, video cards, and server products, today announced their new Thecus line of network attached storage (NAS) servers. The Thecus NAS Series is based on the highly stable Linux OS and supports tera-scale storage capacity. The new line of Thecus storage solutions is aimed at the needs of small and medium sized enterprises and markets such as digital home, healthcare, education, government, and professional services.

"ABIT is famous for quality, stability, reliability, and engineering. Our mainboards have always been the brand of choice for PC enthusiasts," says Edwin Lin, General Manager. "Our new NAS servers reflect ABIT's high standards and our initial promotion for Thecus Storage Solutions will carry the ‘Powered by ABIT' tag."

Today's exponential growth of digitalized files has produced many new problems for accessing and managing data on a network. NAS solves these problems through a dedicated approach to storing and distributing data. A NAS server enhances a network by taking over file management functions, increasing application speeds, and providing faster data response. Network data stored on a NAS is easily shared by users of different types of operating systems. A NAS server also provides exceptional data reliability with RAID features that provide data security, recovery, and remote mirror backup.

ABIT products are renowned for their quality, stability, reliability, and engineering. For storage solutions ABIT's new Thecus Series offers the additional benefits of our 3S advantage: Speed, Space, and Security - Speed through dedicated data management, Space through tera-scale storage capacity and compression algorithms, Security through enhanced RAID functions and encryption technology.

The Thecus NAS Series provides secure, high-speed transmission using the Gigabit Ethernet Interface. Centralized data management is enhanced with cross platform file sharing. PC, Unix/Linux, and Macintosh platforms benefit from unhindered read and write access to NAS server files. The Thecus NAS Series provides a high-performance, integrated storage solution that is also cost-effective.

The Thecus NAS Series provides enhanced hard-disk security with RAID functions that include online disk hot swapping, hot spare, and auto-rebuild to ensure data integrity. To minimize downtime and data loss in the event of a system failure, a disk roaming function lets users remove the RAID set.

Installation of the Thecus NAS Series is quick and easy, with no need to shut down the network. Plug and play setup is convenient and uses web browser based administration and management. Thecus Series storage solutions are backed with a 2-year Warranty on parts and labor.
