January
2, 2004 - ABIT's MAX series of motherboards means MAXimum features
and MAXimum performance. PC Guide recently took a close look at the IC7-MAX3
motherboard, and with its impressive feature set, managed to win their
Recommended Award, and garner a 9 out of 10 rating!
PC Guide delves into the rich features of ABIT's SoftMenu™: "Another
menu of interest is the PC Health status which has Fan Fail Alarm option,
that gives option to shut down system and ABIT have also built in CPU
FanEQ speed control that allows you to control CPU fan speed down to a
specific percentage as long as active temperature isn't exceeded, an awesome
feature ABIT have built into the IC7-MAX3."
Next, PC Guide takes a look at overclocking the IC7-MAX3: "For
some when making a decision about a board the OC features and potential
pay a big part in the decision of which motherboard to buy. From previous
experience with ABIT we are expecting to find the IC7-MAX3 is able to
step up and deliver a good OC base. As we saw in the BIOS section of this
review the first menu item allows for easy adjustments to the frequency
and voltages settings as well as an idea on new clock speed of the CPU...with
a little bit of tweaking we managed to increase the CPU to almost a 3.5GHz
while still running stable and this helped to give the IC7-MAX3 that boost
in the right direction."
Here's
the conclusion: "To sum it all up on the total packed the
IC7-MAX3 provides an amazing solution, ABIT are continually improving
with new features and technology to set their products apart from the
rest. We were impressed with the wide range of connectivity available
on the board including firewire on the back I/O panel and 6xSATA Raid
ports on top of the now standard features like Dual Channel DDR, 8xAGP
etc. The blue/green orb style HSF on the Northbridge adds to the attraction
as well all the extra goodies ABIT have thrown in like black rounded IDE
cables and ABIT's secure IDE...the board still manages to deliver high
performance and with it all taken into account the IC7-MAX3 is a superb
quality board from a highly recommend manufacturer."
