ABIT MAX3: Maximum Cooling (KV8-MAX3,IC7-MAX3)

Taipei, Taiwan November 12, 2003-With MAX3, ABIT is again taking an evolutionary step that a few months from now will become somehow standard. Other companies will not be able to copy our unique new cooling solution, but they will certainly try to.

The Effects of Heat

Heat is detrimental to the delicate components that comprise motherboards and add-on cards such as capacitors and mosfets. The cooler the temperatures, the more effective components work. Over time, excess heat will wear down components causing more system crashes and will eventually lead to system burnout. Only ABIT looks at this problem seriously and has come up with a viable solution to the excess heat produced by motherboard components.

mosfets during normal use. Note violet, red and yellow are hot.

A New Standard Needed

The ABIT Engineers have determined that a radical new design was needed for a cooling solution to be affective at reducing heat. Although active northbridge cooling has been a solid step forward, this does not address the other components on board that build up heat. To this end, we have devised a new solution which takes these issues into account. This new solution will change the industry and become a new standard in motherboard cooling.

The Evolution of OTES

The original OTES redefined VGA cooling to the point where manufacturers are now using gimmicks like multiple fan combinations on VGA cards in a vain effort to match the cooling prowess of OTES. Now, in the interests of cooling and performance, OTES has been redesigned to cool the hottest part of a motherboard: the PWM power regulation mosfets and capacitors. While active cooling on the northbridge has been developed in recent years, the PWM area has been completely ignored. OTES fills this need, while also serving to exhaust air outside of the PC case.

With ABIT's OTES for the IC7 and KV8 MAX3, enthusiasts have the most complete thermal solution ever designed for a motherboard, and one of the most effective for a PC. With OTES, enthusiasts have a cooling solution that will allow them to push their systems to the breaking point-and beyond.
