Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. September 30th, 2003 - As
part of their ongoing commitment to high quality and maximum performance,
Crucial Technology is constantly seeking new ways to improve their product.
One of the ways they do this is by teaming up with major motherboard manufacturers
to test, validate, and troubleshoot RAM performance in their boards. This
"above-and-beyond" testing ensures consumers that both Crucial
and the board manufacturer have taken extra measures to produce a product
of superior quality. ABIT is proud to team up with Crucial to ensure that
you get stable, powerful performance from our products.
The Memory Experts at Work
Recently, in a joint effort with ABIT, the Crucial Performance Lab tested
RAM performance in an ABIT IC7-G motherboard. They performed two groups
of tests, one with Windows XP and one with Windows 2000. Both operating
systems were set up with the same drivers (Intel chipset driver 5.00.1012),
the latest service packs, and DirectX 9.0. Each operating system ran Multimedia
Content Creation 2003. They used two different processors, each with six
different memory configurations. All of the memory tested was PC3200 (DDR
400).
One goal of the testing was to look for any issues or problems with the
memory performance in the motherboard and address those issues. In the
tests, the memory and the motherboard performed without incident, showing
a standard increase in performance as more memory was added.
"Many people don't understand how important RAM is for a
system and how it relates to the chipset and processor on the motherboard.
You need to have quality components from companies like Crucial that take
that extra step to get it right and validate it as with our motherboard."
Jeremy Smith, ABIT USA
Overall, the ABIT motherboard showed a standard increase in performance
with each increase of memory. All memory configurations were accepted
without any problems in the OS. A slight performance increase occurred
when dual-channel mode was enabled. Higher scores resulted in Windows
2000 than in Windows XP with the 2.53GHz processor. Higher scores resulted
in Windows XP than in Windows 2000 with the 3.2Ghz processor.
The Memory Selector
The Crucial Performance Lab takes the data that results from such testing
and feeds it into Crucial's Memory Calculator. Then they make the appropriate
RAM available in their Memory Selector, so you can rest assured that you're
getting RAM that's 100 percent compatible with your system. They are constantly
adding new test results and additional motherboards.
ABIT Engineered
ABIT’s IC7-G Max series of motherboards are some of the most fully-featured
mainboards created. Hand-crafted and ABIT-engineered to meld workstation
stability and power with high performance and overclockability, this series
is equipped with features and specs never seen before in desktop motherboards.
The IC7-G Max II uses Intel's newest 875 chipset to bring the latest technology
to the Intel platform. The IC7-G supports Intel® Pentium 4 800/533MHz
CPUs with Hyper-Threading technology for superior performance, and offers
full support to utilize dual channel DDR. ABIT provides users with 6-channel
sound and S/PDIF in/out as a standard feature for enhanced audio performance.
With full support for AGP 8X, USB 2.0, IEEE 1394 and onboard Intel PRO/1000
CT Desktop Connection Gigabit LAN, the IC7-G allows users to connect to
today's peripherals. With Intel PRO/1000 CT Desktop Connection Gigabit
LAN on board, you can easily connect to the Internet at high speeds without
a separate 10/100/1000 Ethernet card.
