Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C., September 2, 2003 - The Crucible
recently reviewed the award winning ABIT IC7-G giving it not one but two
awards. Here are the highlights: "The IC7-G breaks away from 'typical' 875p boards. It's
cool black PCB and aqua blue/green IDE headers and heatsink scream to
be shown off through that big plexi window we all have in the sides of
our cases. In typical ABIT fashion, the layout is as near perfect as one
can hope for. With the 20pin ATX connector moved well to the edge of the
board just about the 90 degree turned IDE headers, cable routing is mnade
easy and no airflow to your heatsink gets impeaded. The 4pin +12v connector
is mounted near the top egde of
the board between the CPU socket and dimm slots. This also makes keeping
the wires away from 'hot spots' very easy.
ABIT's SoftMenu makes it easy to set the speeds and voltages
all in one place. This feature in particular, keeps me coming back and
buying more ABIT boards. ABIT also includes thier new Game Accelerator
technology on this board. Some very interesting settings to say the least,
once you get used to them.
ABIT's IC7-G is an awesome motherboard. I had no troubles with
this board aside from not being able to run at more than 255Mhz at a 1:1
fsb:dram ratio, which has now been fixed via a bios release. This board
is very stable and very fast, not to mention good looking. Some real thought
went into the layout, making it great for people that like to keep things
inside thier cases neat.
As usual ABIT has put together a top quality package. The board
is top notch and ABIT's tech support is some of the best I have ever experienced.
Aside from the fact that not one but two of these boards decided to die,
I would say the experience was positive. ABIT has some of the most attractive
packaging I have seen in a while. The slick black box really draws you
in, and the contents of the box won't let you
down."
Great overclocking
Very Stable
Great looking black PCB
2 SATA RAID controllers, USB 2.0, IEEE 1394, Dual Channel DDR400, GB LAN
and 800Mhz fsb support
ABIT Service
Very fast
"If you have to have the fastest board around and want to
really push
the limits of your hardware the ABIT IC7-G is the board for you. With
near perfect layout and stellar performance ABIT has come through again.
The price is a bit steep, but when you have to have the best it always
comes at a price. ABIT has done a great job with the IC7-G ...For performance
at its best the ABIT IC7-G is the board to choose."
