Taipei, Taiwan, ROC, February 18th, 2003-Tom's
Hardware Guide has recently reviewed the ABIT NF7-S motherboard and concluded
that it "offers the ideal overclocking base in the quest for 200-MHz FSB clock
speed" with a "good mix of flexibility and features".
The Ultimate Multimedia Platform
One of the strengths of the Nforce2 chipset is the potential it
carries to turn your home PC into a multimedia hub. ABIT is the only motherboard
company to be Dolby Certified, and the only Nforce2 solution that fully
implements NVIDIA's Soundstorm technology. "The NF7-S, like the IT7 MAX2, offers
a wealth of audio ports. It is the only board in the test to offer an optical
output in addition to a coaxial one. "
The Best Features of Any Nforce2 Solution
The NF7-S being ABIT Engineered, it has been equipped with the most advanced
features and latest technologies: "Abit makes good use of the nForce2 chipset's
features. Along with a total of six USB 2.0 ports (four can be used
simultaneously), two FireWire ports are also available. In order to support the
latest hard drives, the Sil3112 serial controller from Silicon Image was also
put on the board. To make this usable with conventional hard drives, the package
includes an appropriate ABIT Serillel™ adapter."
"We liked the layout of this board: the ATX interface and the slot for the 12V
supplementary power supply are situated, quite practically, in the same place -
that prevents a tangle of cables. Also, long cards are not in the way of either
the serial ports nor the IDE ports."
As always, Tom' Hardware appreciated the that ABIT provides the most complete
BIOS interface for overclockers available: "Exemplary as always is SoftMenu™from
Abit. In the case of the NF7-S it even permits alteration of the chipset voltage
- a thing that the competition can't always offer."
