Corsair Reduces Latency Specifications: Validates ABIT KD7 Motherboard

Taipei, Taiwan, December 5th, 2002- Corsair Memory, Inc., an industry leader in ultra-performance DDR DRAM modules for gaming and overclocking applications, has announced that it is moving to more aggressive latency settings on its popular XMS3500 line of ultra-performance memory modules.
"There was some dissatisfaction among our enthusiast customer base regarding the latency settings for the XMS3500 modules," stated Don Lieberman, VP of Engineering at Corsair. "We have listened to these customers, and engineered and qualified a production test that uses more aggressive settings."
"Corsair memory is recognized by enthusiasts worldwide for its performance and reliability," stated Bernard Lam, Sales manager at ABIT. "As a premier supplier of ultra-performance motherboards, ABIT is very pleased that the excellent performance of the KD7 has been confirmed in Corsair's labs."
The modules are now tested in an ABIT KD7 KT400-based motherboard using the following settings:
Memory bus speed: 2x217 MHz
CAS latency: 2.0 clock cycles
RAS precharge: 3 cycles (was previously 4 cycles)
RAS-to-CAS delay: 3 cycles (was previously 4 cycles)
RAS active to precharge: 7 cycles (was previously 8 cycles)
Command rate: 1T (1 cycle)
Population: 1 module/system

ABIT's KD7-RAID supporting the latest AMD Athlon XP CPUs and for the first time ever a 333MHz front side bus, delivers bleeding-edge performance with no compromise. With Corsair memory it makes for a formidable combo.
The KD7-RAID is powered by the VIA KT400 chipset, which features both USB 2.0 and AGP 8X support. On-board 10/100 LAN means that the KD7-RAID is high-speed Internet ready. Also included with the KD7-RAID is rich 6-channel audio featuring a professional digital audio interface supporting 24-bit S/PDIF OUT.
ABIT's KD7-RAID also includes 1 AGP and 6 PCI slots for unrivalled system expandability. What's more, the KD7-RAID brings MaxIImum hard drive security and performance with the HPT372 IDE RAID controller, offering RAID 0, 1, and 0+1 functionality. The HPT372 also provides 2 extra IDE channels, which means that the KD7-RAID can support up to 8 IDE devices at ATA 133 transfer speeds.

ABIT MaxIImum Edge

ABIT motherboards always provide something extra to give users the MaxIImum Edge. The KD7-RAID offers 4 DDR DIMMS for unbeatable memory flexibility. Also, ABIT's legendary SoftMenu™ is here, allowing users to adjust vital system parameters all from an easy-to-use, jumper-free BIOS. SoftMenu enables front side bus settings from 100 to 250Mhz in 1MHz increments, as well as multiple CPU, DDR and AGP voltages to allow ABIT users to push their PCs to the limit. Experience the MaxIImum Edge with ABIT's KD7-RAID and Corsair memory.
The XMS3500 modules are generally regarded as the very fastest memory modules available. Independent review sites have confirmed this with extensive side-by-side testing with other modules. As summarized by one UK reviewer, "Corsair has yet again upped the ante in the memory stakes with what is some of the fastest DDR memory on the planet...the fact is that Corsair is offering simply the best memory around."
