Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C., November 13, 2002 -
ABIT's OTES Technology featured on the Siluro GF4 Ti4200 OTES has been finding
its way into rigs of hardcore gamers the world over. When you combine the NVIDIA
GF4 Ti4200 GPU with the sheer cooling power of OTES, it's difficult not to see
why. Gamers Depot had a chance to take the Siluro GF4 TI4200 OTES for a test
drive, and found it fitting to give it their coveted Drool Award!
Gamers Depot begins by explaining what OTES is: "PC component maker, ABIT has
recently found a way to lure Ti4200 buyers to their solution by offering a truly
unique cooling system that yields tangible results...This setup utilizes a
high-speed fan (7200rpm), a heat-pipe and a copper-fin heatsink - the result of
which brings unparalleled cooling to a "stock" video card...Not only does this
design allow for an ultra-cool GPU, it lends itself to some serious overclocking..."
On overclocking with OTES: "We used Entech's Powerstrip utility to achieve or
overclocking results, and found that we could get it to run stable at no higher
than a 310MHz core with a 605MHz memory clock…quite impressive to surpass the
core of a Ti4600 card with less than one-half of the cost."
The verdict? "It's really hard not to see that ABIT has done their homework and
released a best-of-class Ti4200 that should leave the competition feeling as if
they've contracted a rash that "just won't heal". One of the main reasons this
technology excites us is because we're looking forward to seeing just how far
ABIT will take it, and we're always glad to see companies taking a proactive
approach to their card designs rather than just swallowing whatever reference
design may be handed to them. Kudos to ABIT for taking the initiative in the
right direction, and providing not only the best Ti4200 we've ever reviewed, but
for expanding the scope of what's possible for video card cooling technology."
