With a vast array of features, rock-solid stability and legendary performance,
it's no wonder that ABIT's MAX2 Series of motherboards is making the entire
hardware community take notice. Rodney Reynolds, also known as 3DGameMan,
recently took a close look at both the IT7-MAX2 and AT7-MAX2, and after putting
the two boards through the paces; declared them both to be Kickass GameMan's
Choice.
Rodney was impressed with some of the powerful features of SoftMenu™ found on
the IT7-MAX2: "Something cool about this particular area is for instance if you
have a high front-side bus you can adjust the PCI bus frequency to a fixed
megahertz...Also you have a little feature here called the DRAM ratio...if you
select with the newer one...it will give you an actual memory speed of 420MHz
DDR, so that a really good feature there for really getting some great
performance out of high-speed memory."
The summary of the IT7-MAX2: "The ABIT IT7-MAX2 Motherboard is without a doubt
is one of the best motherboards on the planet for the Intel P4 CPU. With onboard
HTP374 RAID, 5.1 Audio, 10 USB 2 ports, 2 Firewire ports, LAN port, etc. and is
unbelievable at overclocking with stability to boot!"
Here is Rodney on the AT7-MAX2's SoftMenu™: "This is my favorite place in the
BIOS, because you can overclock the CPU in here. You can adjust the front-side
bus all the way to 250MHz...also you have a few ratio options here. These are
good because if you have a high front-side bus, it's not really going to stress
out your the AGP and PCI BUS."
What was Rodney's conclusion on the AT7-MAX2? "The ABIT AT7-MAX2 Motherboard is
an overclocker's dream and there's more onboard stuff than you can imagine (Firewire,
USB2, LAN, Audio, RAID, etc). If you are in the market for a new AMD based
motherboard that is simply over the top then you can be assured that this
motherboard will satisfy completely! Overall, this is a KICKASS product!"
