ABIT motherboards are renowned for stability, features and most of all,
performance. PC Stats recently held a roundup featuring 10 i845E/G boards, and
three of its participants were the BD7II-RAID, BG7, and IT7-MAX. After putting
all the boards through a battery of tests, PC Stats declared that the BG7 was
the Best Overclocker and awarded it with their Recommended Product Award!
Here's what PC Stats had to say about the BD7II-RAID: "We've always been fans of
ABIT's motherboard because they usually perform well and overclock like champs.
ABIT's previous motherboard, the BD7, was extremely popular because of it's good
stock performance, and overclockability and it looks like ABIT's new BD7II-RAID
might be improving on those trends even further...Bottom line, the ABIT
BD7II-RAID is a very good motherboard with its fair share of features and
overclocking tools."
They were blown away with the dizzying array of features found on the IT7-MAX:
"...the IT7 has everything you would ever need integrated already. It has on
board 10/100 LAN, 5.1 audio (software codec), IDE RAID and even IEEE 1394! The
BIOS of the IT7 MAX is very similar to the ABIT BG7...It's a typical ABIT BIOS,
very powerful, and very good for overclockers!"
With SoftMenu™, the BG7 was an unbeatable overclocker: "The BIOS on the BG7
makes use of ABIT's SoftMenu III and so it comes with all the tweaks we've come
to love as overclockers and performance users...The BG7 BIOS brings to the table
a whole host of neat memory features such as a 3/4 memory divider, and a 4/5th
memory divider as well. This is extremely useful when overclocking as it can
help provide more memory bandwidth to the CPU. From an overclocking standpoint
the ABIT BG7 turned out to be the best overclocker of the bunch, allowing us to
hit a 166 MHz FSB."
The bottom line? "Most of the motherboards in this roundup were pretty good
overclockers, but the ABIT BG7 stood above the rest."
