Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C., October 29 - Since the
introduction of SoftMenu™ back in 1996, ABIT has been known for giving hardware
enthusiasts what they want: fast, stable platforms from which to base their
performance rigs. Today, ABIT continues this legacy with its MAX motherboard
series that delivers unmatched performance, rock-solid stability, and an
unprecedented feature set. The folks at Hexus had a chance to take a close look
at the AT7-MAX2, and after scoring a perfect 10 out of 10, found it fitting to
award it with their coveted Editors Choice award.
Hexus begins by going over some of the features that make the AT7-MAX2 one of
the best AMD-based boards available today: "The MAX2 follows on where the
original MAX left off - just like before, you won't find any serial or parallel
ports, but what you will find is probably one of the greatest selection of
interfaces ever to be built directly onto the motherboard. You name it, it's got
it - USB 2, Firewire, 6 Channel Audio, Optical Audio Out, LAN, Serial ATA,
RAID...The MAX2 has been geared for the enthusiast in mind. The overclocking
options are the best I've seen in any socket A board. When ABIT designed this
board, they did so with style in mind - it's certainly a looker : )"
Here's what they had to stay about the stability of the AT7-MAX2: "During all
these tests, the test system did not crash once - even under the overclocked
200mhz bus configurations, a testament to the high quality of this motherboard.
Installation of windows XP went without a hitch, after running the supplied
driver CD all devices were detected correctly and worked perfectly."
The verdict? "This board is without a doubt the best KT400 board I've used. The
number of features is overwhelming, and the fact it all works the way it should
is impressive. If you are in the market for a new socket A motherboard then I
highly recommend the AT7-MAX2..."
Final Rating: 10/10
