HardCOREware Takes ABIT AT7 to the MAX

Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C., April 12 2002 - The AT7, the newest motherboard in ABIT's new MAX series, has been given a rating of 98% by HardCOREware.net, with Carl Nelson noting that the AT7 is
"definitely one of the most unique boards you'll see today."

What first caught Carl's attention was the AT7's revolutionary design: "Notice the complete lack of legacy ports - this includes PS/2, ATA, serial, parallel, the whole shebang! Instead, we get 4 USB 1.1 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, a pair of IEEE1394 FireWire ports, full analog 5.1 audio out, digital audio out, and a LAN connector. This is what really sets the MAX boards apart. It is FINALLY time to get rid of that old Dexxa ball mouse that came with your first SVGA card. While you're at it, toss out that old Dot Matrix printer, and even the $13 keyboard with the ASDFJKL: keys completely rubbed off! ABIT steps into a new era of computing with the MAX boards."

Of course, being an ABIT board, the AT7 comes with ABIT Engineered features: "The most unique, intriguing board ever does not stop at the BIOS! ABIT has always been known for their robust BIOS features, and they do NOT change here! Needless to say, ABIT once again provides us with the means of squeezing out every last drop of performance from our systems. ABIT is definitely making the 'beyond spec' RAM manufacturers happy (and the people who buy it!). Here you can control the vast array of onboard peripherals on the board. If you're happy with a single drive and CDROM, feel free to disable the Highpoint controller as well, just to keep things nice and clean. You can turn off pretty much everything from here, turning the might MAX into a pathetic vegetable if you wish."
The performance of the AT7 was certainly up to ABIT standards as well: "The tweaking capabilities of the AT7 are simply breathtaking. You've seen that it performs rather well at stock speeds, but imagining what you could do with some high end cooling and 'ultra-spec' ram... This board is definitely ready to take the Tbred further than no other board can."
The conclusion? "As a high end motherboard, the AT7 certainly does NOT disappoint. It has absolutely everything you could ask for in a board. Everything you REALLY need is integrated. So as a Step towards the Next Generation, I give ABIT a big thumbs up."
Final rating: 98%
