In another ABIT
triumph, ABIT's SD7-533 has proven itself a winner for serious overclockers who
want serious value. According to Hard|OCP:
"this is by far the strongest showing of an SiS chipset to date."
Of course,
this strong performance owes itself to ABIT Engineered features, which allow
users to tweak the board for maximum performance: "ABIT
has been credited with being one of the first companies to pioneer "overclocker
friendly" motherboards as far back as their LX chipset based boards. The
introduction of the now famous "SoftMenu Jumperless CPU Configuration" BIOS laid
the groundwork for many of the overclocking features that are now common in
"performance" motherboards…Again, we are looking at the standard SoftMenu III
Award BIOS. Overclocking features abound, you can tweak until your heart is
content. Voltage settings, 1MHz FSB settings, DDR performance adjustments; they
are all there."
Hard|OCP could
see that the SD7 was suitable for not just overclocking: "End users who use
their machine for a wide variety of tasks ranging from Photoshop, spreadsheet,
audio/video editing as well as the frequent romps into the gaming realm will be
the most satisfied with the SD7-533. For Socket 478 P4 users who primarily
use their machine for work, office/business applications, this motherboard is at
the top of my list."
Their
conclusion? "ABIT has certainly done a great job in delivering a board that
wrings every last bit of performance out of the SiS645. Bundled with a
good feature set, the SD7-533 is certainly a board that deserves to be at the
top of your list when looking for a Socket 478 motherboard. What it all boils
down to is whether I would recommend this board to my friends, family, and most
importantly YOU. To that, I can honestly say, "Yes"."
