ABIT's new Siluro GeForce 4 MX, based on the nVidia 17 chipset, has received a
stunning review from The Tech Zone for performance and value, easily
outperforming the more expensive competition.
The Tech Zone couldn't help but notice the unique ABIT features such as the
"funky looking green box" the GF4 MX comes in, or the robust fan, which "there
is no need to replace…with an aftermarket unit." These first impressions were
further augmented by the reviewers discovery of the Siluro GF4 MX display
drivers: "The ABIT display drivers offer lots of nice little tweaks, so you can
get the most out of your Siluro GF4 MX. One of the best features is nView. nView
allows you to connect two separate output devices to a single graphics card…
Check this out! The ABIT display driver has a "Clock Frequencies" tab to adjust
both the core and memory speed. No need to download and use any 3rd party
software like PowerStrip. The clock adjustments lets you test the setting and
even apply them at start up so you won't have to keep setting them every time
you turn on your computer. Very cool."
Very cool indeed. But what about performance after all this tweaking? "I don't
think many people will complain about running Quake 3 at 1600x1200x32 bit at max
configuration at 73.57 frames per second! When you consider you can buy this
card for just $125, it becomes down right amazing! The Siluro overclocks quite
well. Right now I'm running the card at 300MHz core and 450MHz memory, and
everything is fine. ABIT must have a lot of faith in their product to include
those overclocking sliders in the drivers."
And the overall conclusion? "Overall, I like the Siluro GF4 MX. ABIT has created
a nice card at a great price. The Siluro GF4 MX is a great choice for the gamer
on a budget. Every game I tried worked and looks great with the Siluro GF4 MX…
as I played with the card and ran it though the benchmarks and saw how well it
did, the card grew on me big time."
The TechZone's rating: 8.5/10
