Q: Why does it delay 5 seconds until power up after the pushing power button on the IC7-G board?
A: The ICH5 chipset board will delay 4~5 seconds to power up after pushing the power button. It is caused by a DDR memory protection mechanism from Intel. If end users quickly power off and then power on ICH5 boards, DDR memory may suffer from a power pulse before the original power status has been fully discharged. So ABIT ICH5 boards will have a 4~5 second delay after discharging CMOS data; nevertheless, if the boards are powered up from stand-by state (the power supply hasn't been switched off-and-on), the board will boot immediately and without any delay.
